New submissions are not scrutinized for compliance with our formatting guidelines (reference style, word limits, order of components, etc). ![]() JCO has adopted a format-free submission policy (EZSubmit). If you believe that your manuscript is potentially suitable for the Rapid Review program, please state this in your cover letter upon manuscript submission, and the editors will give your request careful consideration. If recommended for the expedited publication program, your article will post online within 4-6 weeks of the submission date and be freely available upon publication. Manuscripts that are accepted through the Rapid Review pathway might also be considered for expedited publication as a Rapid Communication. For such manuscripts, initial peer review is typically completed within 72 hours of reviewer assignment, with a first editorial decision rendered shortly thereafter. JCO offers a Rapid Review program designed for those submitted manuscripts that are deemed by the editors to represent timely and late breaking research that might have an immediate impact on patient care. At the discretion of the editors, an article that has been accepted through the Fast Track Presubmission pathway might also be considered for expedited publication as a Rapid Communication. This process is designed to accelerate the review process as much as possible for authors who have potentially practice-changing work. In other cases, JCO may decide that a streamlined process of external peer review is still necessary prior to final decision-making. In some cases, JCO may be able to avoid subjecting the manuscript to a separate round of external peer review. Once JCO reviews such material, we will determine whether it is sufficient to justify formal submission, with the intent of performing an accelerated review by using the prior reviews in the decision-making process.
